Teresa Lambert, MBA, BSN, RN has the title of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (role of CNO) and Vice President Patient Care Services of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) St. Vincent Hot Springs (SVHS). As Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), Lambert is responsible for all areas of SVHS nursing practice. Lambert is also responsible for the review and implementation of actions to improve the quality, safety, utilization, and cost of care at CHI SVHS. Lambert plays a critical role in the organization’s strategic planning and aligns her team with the initiatives set forth, and she is responsible for the development of nurses and nursing leaders throughout the organization.
Through the framework designed by the executive team, Lambert reports directly to Douglas Ross, MD, FACEP, President and Market Chief Medical Officer of CHI SVHS, and has a dotted line reporting in the matrix structure to Angie Longing, MHSM, BSN, RN, NE-BC, Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive for the CHI St. Vincent System.

Lambert and her direct reports meet biweekly in the Nursing Executive Council (NEC), a nursing operations meeting with agenda items and discussions of areas such as nursing standards of care and annual operational and capital budget planning. Other regular operations meetings between Lambert and these direct reports include a daily safety huddle and the monthly Nurse Manager Council. Lambert also has biweekly one-on-one meetings with her direct reports to discuss operational issues and initiatives. Lambert continually gives feedback to her direct reports to assist with developmental growth throughout the year to enhance performance.
Lambert is an active participant in the biweekly system-wide Market Nurse Executive Council (MNEC), in which the senior leaders review the strategic plan for quality, safety, resource utilization, and overall financial viability of St. Vincent. Lambert attends the CHI SVHS Administration Council every Monday, during which participants collate the information from the MNEC into a summary that is then presented at the monthly Leadership Forum. Lambert co-leads the Leadership Forum, at which the information is disseminated to all leaders in a role of supervisor and above. Lambert also attends the monthly Interprofessional Practice Council (IPC), which is the governing body for shared governance. Much of the information and data from the MNEC, CHI SVHS Administration Council, and monthly Leadership Forum is shared at IPC. Lambert also represents nursing at the Board Level for CHI SVHS.
Lambert is also responsible for the system staffing office. Kaitlyn Atkins, MSN, RN, CPN, the Clinical Director for these resources, reports directly to Lambert. Lambert meets with Atkins biweekly to discuss staffing and contingency operations as well as leader development.

Lambert attends the monthly Executive Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Committee for the CHI St. Vincent market. Hixon, Corley, and Goad also attend this meeting, the topics of which include infection prevention, quality and safety, and other decisions that involve nursing care at all St. Vincent campuses. Lambert and Sanders also attend the weekly Length of Stay Steering Committee meetings, the topics of which include patient throughput and other patient issues that affect patient lengths of stay at CHI SVHS.
